Blurb :

Mishkat and Nasya did not get married because they were forced to or because it was necessary. They did it because they wanted to. They flew to different continents for their careers a month after their marriage, not because the marriage didn’t work out but because they wanted to focus on their dreams.

They focused on their careers for seven years, excelled in their respective fields, and moved from being friends to best friends. They thought theirs was the perfect relationship because they did all that they ever wanted.

But, when life carved its own path, it left them with a dilemma. Did they really do everything that they ever desired? Is what they think they want, what they really want?

Review :

Married on Paper is the story of Mishkat, Nasya and their marriage.

They got married and to focus on their career and dreams, flew to different continents. Nasya became an actress and Mishkat, a Neuropsychiatrist. Is living separately something that they can work out? Despite being married, does distance and secrets tends to ruin relationships? Read the book to find out.

I would like to appreciate the fact that this book doesn’t go along the same lines as the normal cliche romance books. The storyline offers a perspective I’ve not read on before, plus points for that! The book starts off well, with the way the protagonists meet and how they get married, but then the twist takes its place in the plot. It’s entertaining upto an extent, but then it feels slightly repetitive. I like how the mental health component has been taken into account and stories have been weaved around it. It’s also really efficient to see how the characters and their stories are shaped giving enough weightage to the past and how it’s was an important component in shaping their present and future. The story moves at a slow pace and I like how it comes together at the end. It’s also interesting to see how the mature and well communicating the protagonists are.

However, I feel the plot of the book is diluted as compared to the synopsis. I wished for a bit more drama and complexity in the story. The language used is very easy to understand and simple.

It’s a book for those who are looking for something different to read in the romance genre rather than the typically plotted stories.

Thanks to the author for providing me with the review copy in lieu of an honest review.

Happiness

Happiness   I rested my head against the governor of my vehicle. The headache was making its mark while I was waiting for mom to finish her shopping. I had kept my vehicle on the side of the main road like an irresponsible citizen that I was and next to me, I saw a vegetable vendor packing up since it was 9pm. I turned my head towards him and started observing how he was winding up for the day. Since it was monsoon, he was covering the vegetables with a transparent plastic sheet. After that he proceeded to cover it with a blue plastic which was the same as the one the person living opposite to me used to cover the front of his house in the monsoon. Having the distractive mind that I do, I began thinking about same things that I had been since the morning. A few things in the past days had hurt me to an extent that thinking about them was going to lead to a mini breakdown in that very moment. I felt my eyes tearing up and I found it difficult to breathe. Extending my ne...

Just grow

It's 2am and my mind refuses to shut down. I'm pondering over the events that I recently lived through and the people I've lived them with. There's a discontent in me. I have 30 things to do. I'm sick and I need rest but this stubborn mind of mine is making me it's prisoner by making me think and analyze each and everything I don't want to. The main reason for my discontent are as always my expectations. I have certain morals, ethics and discipline in me which I believe should be a must. The people around me lack that. I cannot work or be around such people. Being a key witness to their useless banter, nonsense logics and brainless actions make me question my own self. It is believed that you are the sum of the five people you spend most of your time with and that is troubling me. I want to grow, I want to learn, I want to be infinite in a lot of ways. How do I do it if I spend my day worrying about others and the impact they have on me. Solitude...
